Ship Recycling Industries Association (India) is an organisation established for the welfare of ship recycling activity in India. It safeguards the rights of its member ship recyclers and ensures safe and eco-friendly recycling activity. Shri R.L. Kalthiya founded the Ship Recycling Industries Association on 28th August 1983 which was then known as Gujarat Ship Breakers Association. He was the pioneer in development of the association. His noble work for the industry and association is noteworthy. The incorporation of the association not only protected its members but also helped the industry to blossom and develop into the largest ship recycling yard in the world.

Shri Jivraj Patel, now president of the association, is leading the industry to re-establish itself with improved infrastructure and better environment and safety standards. The industry is looking forward to have a new look ship-recycling yard at Alang in coming years. Shri Jivraj Patel’s vision is of Alang as World’s Largest and Safest Ship Recycling Yard in the coming years. The Industry is committed to continual improvement in safety standards and environment pollution control processes.
